View Full Version : G.Leitmeyr Munchen Doppel-Anastigmat Sytar 4,5/135 mm lens
Greetings friends.
I have recently acquired a G.Leitmeyr Munchen Doppel-Anastigmat Sytar 4,5/135 mm lens, but I can find nothing about it online.
I would appreciate any contributions to its suitability for large format - particularly which format - 4X5 or 5X7 or smaller?
Any other information would also be valued.
Thanks in advance

Leitmeyer was a smaller brand supplier to the very popular 9x12cm cameras in Europe after 1900. 4x5 yes, 5x7 no. Only dagor ( and the many copies at F6.8) will cover 5x7 with the 120mm + focal length.

It's proably a Dialyte so contrast can be an issue, you'll have to try it out.

Thanks Ian.
Yes, will do.
I have seen reference to other G.Leitmeyr lenses but not to this one,
I am getting the impression that it is uncommon, however any knowledge of the lens in use would be valued

The Sytar seems to be their main lens but not exported much so we rarely come across them.

I can confirm that it is a dialyte. I had a 4,5/105 mm Sytar for 6x9 that I took apart to clean. Nice sharp lens, but with eight uncoated surfaces so I wouldn't use it for colour.
I posted elsewhere a comparisons of a 1913 Dagor, a Tessar, a Goerz-Ihagee Dialyte and a Meyer WA -4 air speced elements, (all in the120-165mm range and optically very clean), and that's the oder of effective contrast, the Dagor was excellent. the Tessar quite a drop but useable, the last two harder to work with.

Thank you both for your feedback.
It is valued
