Is the Aristo D-2 Hi Intensity Cold Light compatibility with variable contrast paper?
This particular lamp has a bluish color when it is on.

Does it have the V54 bulb? If so, then it will work with multigrade filters.

If not a V54 use a 40CC Y filter with it and it will also work.

the d2hi has the v54 bulb
you will be fine with vc paper
leave the heater plugged in for a
little while to heat the cathode
before you print, and your light
will be more consistent .. using it cold
is/was not the recommendation from aristo

I have an Aristo cold light head on my Omega DII enlarger. It makes very nice prints on VC paper, but I have serious consistency problems with the light output. Enough to make me consider the RHDesigns StopClock Vario, or switching back to an incandescent bulb.

The light from the Aristo will change with temperature changes. As the light warms up it'll initially get brighter, but after a certain point a higher temp will lead to less light output. It's best to use with a Metrolux or similar. (Is that what the Vario is, i.e. a timer with a light sensor?)
