Hi all, I plan to get the respective filter adapter rings so I can use my Lee filter holder on my Linhof 4x5 camera. At the moment I've got the Lee filter Starter Kit (which I used back in my digital days), and it came with the 77mm adapter ring. However, I have a few 4x5 lenses but no idea how to identify their lens ring sizes.
Further, i need some lens caps which are missing on a couple of the lenses and need replacements (I'll identify which i need in the list below).

* 75mm Rodenstock Grandagon-N f4.5 MC
* 90mm Sinar Sinaron W 105 f4.5 MC
* 135mm Schneider-Kreuznach f5.6 (needs front lens cap)
* 150mm Rodenstock f5.6 MC (needs rear lens cap)
* 240mm Rodenstock 72 Apo-Sinonar-N f5.6

So i'd like to know all of the ring sizes, but also where I can source the right lens caps listed above.

Thank you and appreciate your help :)

Hi !

The 90 mm 4.5 Sinaron W is identical to the Rodenstock Grandagon N 90 mm 4.5

See a copy of the 1995 Rodenstock catalogue here on cameraeccentric's web page.
You'll find all sizes you need.
http://cameraeccentric.com/html/info/rodenstock_3.html

Regarding Schneider Kreuznach lenses, 135 mm lenses have been manufactured for at least 50 years with slight variations, so it is not possible to give a filter size without knowing which lens it is!
Most probably it is a Symmar, or Symmar-S or Apo Symmar, no guarantee!

An archive of Schneider Kreuznach catalogues is here on wayback machine.

For Symmars look for the following pdf files
aufnahme_objektive.pdf (years ~1990)
fachoptik_e.pdf
sr_5.6_a.pdf (old symmars)
symmar_1964.pdf
symmar_5.6.pdf
symmar_s_72.pdf
symmar_s_73.pdf
symmar_s_90.pdf

Good luck !

Thanks Emmanuel, appreciate the effort in your response.

Lot of info to sift through, ive gone through the Rodenstock Catalogue and that was straight forward. I'll continue to look through the rest soon.

While looking other 4x5 lenses, i stumbled upon a document from BH which has a pretty good overview of LF lenses which includes many makes and their thread sizes.

For those interested, it this link:

Thank you for this reference Alen, very convenient and easy to read. And of course leaves one wishing that all those lenses were still in production and could be bought for the prices shown!

It is heartening when someone answers his own question and shares it.

I offer my usual suggestion: find a good dial caliper and a thread pitch gauge. They are invaluable for so many things and good ones will last a lifetime. I've got to get a new one. Glen Evans (glennview.com) corrected one of my measurements because my cheap caliper wore to inaccuracy (It's great to work with a machinist who knows photo gear.)

+1 that. Regarding the OP's question about lens caps, the B+W/Schneider push-on plastic caps (https://www.schneideroptics.com/ecommerce/CatalogSubCategoryDisplay.aspx?CID=1159) available on FleaBay, B&H and Adorama come in a variety of sizes & work just fine.
