I've got 3 mixing boxes for my CLS 450 head on my Laborator 1000. On top of the mixing box is a piece of glass held in place by two tabs. I seem to remember reading somewhere that this glass added 40M + 40Y. To my eyes it looks pretty colourless, but it's probably subtle.
If I am doing black and white printing on VC paper, are these pieces of glass superfluous?
Thanks!

It's probably just a UV or heat absorbing glass. 40M/40Y would be a blatantly obvious reddish color.

Thought it might be for heat as well, but it's a considerably thinner glass than the heat absorbing glass on my 138. I guess there's no harm in keeping it there.

40M/40Y is going to be a red filter. On my Durst head it is on a slide lever inside the head. Someone printing B&W probably took it out and thinking something needs to be there, replaced it with clear glass.
