Nice Mark! For some reason I was shooting square format yesterday myself. I've been thinking about it for weeks, and finally made an adapter and mixed up some fresh chemistry on Friday. I'll post an image once the sun comes up.
Edit: Here is a digi-snap of this 5x5 plate. I shot it several times and some images were predominantly blueish, and some warmer. This one is closest.
Mark, I remember you saying that you don't mix soft and wet. In this case I did, as I was using the universal heliar (wide open) and forgot it was on full soft from a previous shoot (my wife, who is 53, likes here portraits soft...).

Larry, whom I met the other day at this historic house, which is part of the Eno River State Park. He was kind enough to pose for me, between telling me stories about the area and about the house, where he was born and raised. This is cropped a fair bit; I was trying for more of an environmental portrait, but didn't go wide enough to make it work.

I was out on the swamp boardwalk today and came upon a young lady with some kids. She was snapping some photos with a little DSLR of some sort. I was patiently waiting for them to be finished but she turned around and asked if I knew how to work her camera! Of course I must look like someone who knows how to operate a camera, with my big 4x5...
Anyway, I helped her with her problem and showed her how to use exposure compensation. Afterwards I asked if I she would like me to take a couple of photos of her and the kids, and I would email her the images. I was trying to burn some film anyway and I don't often have the opportunity to take portraits, so I was happy to oblige. Here is one of them:

DrTang: yes, youth and beauty are fleeting. Reminds me of Dutch paintings with the same symbolism.
Corran: those are great family portraits, especially the first, the B&W. The mom should hang those on the wall.
I suppose...I just had the skull sitting around and she picked it up
I been wanting to do something like those 20's and 30's actor portraits where they are holding 'poor Yorrick's' skull all dramatic like- - you may have seen one like that
Creamy Dr Tang! Nice light!

Last 2 top notch, elegant people, well dressed, like when the "artist" disappear and the only thing left is the subject. Also, when the subject of the portrait is the main subject instead the lens used,

Excellence, I love all your photos very much!
As I mentioned here (http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?44249-Large-Format-Landscapes&p=1297509&viewfull=1#post1297509), I recently picked up a little Rodenstock Trinar 13.5cm lens for all of $25, and shot some today with it. I wanted to try it on a wide portrait and my girlfriend obliged. This is at f/6.8, and the full-rez scan is quite soft, but with a small enlargement it might be okay. At a more reasonable f/stop it is much better, but it was pretty dark in the woods. Fuji 160S film:

That lens will rock in B&W, wider open, at dusk or early light, with those branches in the background sorta dim.
Still snowing here, so out came the 10x8, 450mm/f9, HP5+, BTZS tubes, strobe, CFT light, Uncle Tom Cobbley an' all:

jp, I can see how that would appeal to you! Truth be told, I had no b&w film loaded, so I just grabbed a few QuickLoad sheets to play with. The out-of-focus areas are a bit busy for me here. But I will definitely be shooting with this lens more (and in b&w of course!).
