I'm looking for a modern (ish) 180mm that might fit into a Model D Pressman folded up.

I was hoping the APO-Sironar-N would fit but i'm thinking with its Copal 1 it won't fit, maybe the Fujiinon 150mm f/5.6 W would fit.

Does anyone know for sure what can squeeze in there? Also, any idea if the rangefinder be calibrated for a 180mm or is it better off with a 135mm.

Thanks for any help and advise!!

The Fujinon A 180mm f/9 is the smallers 180mm I know of. It folds up nicely in my Wista DX. And, it's a great performer.

A little longer than you asked but a Rodenstock Geronar 210 or the Caltar branded example will fold up into a Crown Graphic, just barely. I don't know how a Pressman compares to a Crown when folded.

Welcome to the forum, Dirk!

Maybe a 180 (7 inch) 6.8 Dagor?

A Kodak 203/7.7 will fit and fold up I believe. (I have one and will report back later if that is true.) In my Pressman, you only have about 1 inch clearance from the face of the lensboard to the folded up standard. The rangefinder could can be adjusted for that lens.

Hey Alan,
I grew up in St. Louis and was just there last week visiting my parents. I like the idea of the Rodenstock Geronar 210 f/6.8, I've heard thats a great lens as long as you stop down to 16 or 22...

Hi Dirk. I live in Brentwood just down the street from the St. Louis Galleria.

The Geronar was considered a "Student" lens. It was cheaper due to the lack of coverage. Of course that doesn't matter on a Bush Pressman. It's plenty sharp stopped down. I used a Caltar version on a Crown Graphic for portraits for a short while. Lately I have seen 3 or 4 sell on Ebay for less than $100 in both flavors. Of course some Sellers are still trying to get $200.

There not a lot of room on a Pressman to hold a more modern lens when the front bed is folded, don't' have my 135mm Wollensak in a Raptar shutter
handy to measure but if you have one or another forum member has one handy, that's probably the most that can go in there.

I use a 135 Sironar -N with my Pressman and it folds up. It is my main lens.

As a follow up: The Kodak 203/7.7, Symmar 150/5.6 convertible, and the Fujinon-W 150/6.3 lenses all will fit - I have verified it with my lenses.

Thanks to everyone for letting me know what I can squeeze in there. I had a 210mm f/9 repro clarion that I used in college, any idea if that would fit?

I might use my Pressman D more if I didn't keep running out of coverage and had a longer lens for it. Thanks for the info!
