I am using a Canham wood field 5x7 with the 617 roll film back. A lab in NYC ruined about 25 rolls of Portra 120 that I shot in the spring. So I am looking for recommendations for a professional lab where I can send my film for developing. I would also like to get some low res proof quality scans along with developing. Input is appreciated

A&I (aandi.com) does c41 and scanning.

I haven't used them but have heard good things. http://www.4photolab.com/
All labs (including a&i) make mistakes from time to time. Ask your lab to process your large quantities of film in batches throughout the day/week to decrease the chance of a total loss.

You would hope that they would have figured out there was something wrong after the first 1 or 2 rolls.

+6 Praus that's the link Vinny posted, I've used him many times with my 4x5 and 8x10 color and trust him implicitly.

I've never had him scan anything so I can't report on that, but the processing is excellent.

Sorry about your other film.

+7 for Edgar Praus to develop/process color films, or B&W for that matter. I have been well satisfied with his work on E-6 processing of Velvia films (120 or 4x5), and also C-41 (Ektar 120 or 4x5). And about a year ago I actually stopped by his shop to drop off my films while on the way home to Wisconsin from a photo trip in New England, and found Mr. Praus to be a very pleasant and down-to-earth person. It's HIS shop/business, and he is well experienced and capable to provide excellent service - so I'd recommend Praus Productions highly. ...

I use Lightwaves in SF. Never had a problem. Consistent results. They seem to process enough film daily that they're staying in business and chemicals are fresh. :)

You are better off developing at home, its much, much cheaper if you have large quantities of film.
