Come join me at my talk with Daniel Kosharek. On Sunday September 27 at 2:00pm, The New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe will be screening (free) the PBS film "American Master's: Pedro E. Guerrero A photographer's Journey". Guerrero was an accomplished architectural photographer and best known as the photographic collaborator of Frank Lloyd Wright. Following the showing, I have been asked to talk about Guerrero's work and his times and what it has meant for architectural photography today.

Kirk- I realize that it's the shortest possible notice, but can you have this recorded for the rest of us, please?

I appreciate your interest but unless the museum has planned to do it without my knowledge, sorry but no-simply no time.

Should be a fun afternoon!

I recently saw the film and it is a fascinating account of the life and accomplishments of this talented photographer. His work, in my opinion, ranks right up there with that of his better known contemporaries.

Wish I were closer --- wouldn't mind seeing the film again and listening in --- as suggested, a recording would be nice!

Hope you get a good turnout.

I saw this on PBS last week. A really good biography/documentary of this man, very inspiring.

Thanks for sharing Kirk. I had not even heard of this photographer and am now excited to see the movie.
Just need to figure out how to watch it in India as there are "rights restrictions".

FWIW my talk went very well. To supplement this fine documentary I talked about the rise of AP as a profession (rather than a supplementary income stream for say a portrait photographer) with the rise of architects needing to do publicity and in particular early starchitects Like Frank Lloyd Wright (Pedro Guerrero), Richard Nuetra (Julius Shulman) and Mies Van der Rohe (Hedrich Blessing). I also talk about the aesthetic shift that took place in AP as it adapted to the modern aesthetic in architecture which coincided with the rise of modernism in photography and then talked some about AP today in a digital world vs. how we worked with film.

As I nderstand it they (local PBS) had someone scheduled to tape the event but they were sick and that was that: some pics by a student of mine from the talk:

Thanks for posting this Kirk. I enjoyed the documentary and would have liked to seen /heard your talk about this film. Being from the hinterlands I had never heard of Mr. Guerrero. I liked the chapter on Louise Nevelson. My wife is a long time fan of her and we were fortunate to meet her during the Louis Nevelson 80 at 80 retrospective in New York.

Nevelson was a genius. I would have loved to have met her. A poor reproduction but the best I could find. I always loved this image of her by PG:
