Sept 26 is National Public Lands Day. Many (most? all?) National parks will be free to enter that day. Might be a good day to go - or perhaps to avoid.

Geezer alert: Not new news, but you can get a lifetime senior pass for $10 if 62 or older. I've got mine.

I have a Geezer pass so every entry to a National Park is free. I waited long enough to earn it.

I hope this gives budget-strapped urban dwellers who have never seen the splendor of nature a chance to experience the parks. I'll explore uncrowded and hopefully un-incinerated parts of the mountains( if I have the opportunity) and leave the iconic views to my countrymen that day.:D

It's remarkable how many people take advantage of this offer, given the low entry fee at most parks. I once happened to be at Mt. Rainier on such a day, and the popular spots were overwhelmed.

If you're planning on Yosemite or Kings Canyon, take along a bucket of water to toss on the fires as you drive past.

I like to visit parks. All parks has natural beauty and good place for information. I visited many parks in my life these are the names of my visiting parks like a national park of south America, botanical park in Thailand, Buffalo National Park in Canada. Now can any information about park tickets in November share with us?

It depends which area you are visiting. The NPS sells an annual pass for $80, worth it specially in the southwest where some entrance fees could reach $20 - $30.

You can also get a lifetime pass for free to all the parks. Just takes awhile to get your form processed. ... unless you're already a geezer, then they respect your
age and wisdom and will do it promptly!

I am not aware of any lifetime pass "free" except for disabled, military or volunteer. Please let me know what I am missing.

Not free. If you are over 62 you can get the "Geezer Pass" for $10 at a National Park or $20 via the internet. http://www.nps.gov/elro/planyourvisit/interagency-senior-pass.htm

The pass is $10 but then you get into any National Park (2,000 recreation sites managed by five Federal agencies - http://store.usgs.gov/pass/PassIssuanceList.pdf ) for free and in certain parks you may be able to get a discount at the stores.

The Geezer Pass is definitely a best buy. One of the few perks of getting older, other than retirement of course. I did not know about the store discounts.
