Lines per inch =dpi in 4x5 and 8x10?

Sir:
I am researching 16K film recorders. Recorders tend t0 define resolution by lines. Obviously 16K is 16,000 lines. My question is how many dpi is that to a 4x5 and how many dpi is that to a 8x10? Any help would be apprecated.

I haven't used film recorders, but I'd assume the "16K" spec is the maximum total lines possible in the recorder's output, and that there are potentially various trade-offs to be considered during setup for individual images. DPI and LPI (dots and lines per inch) are generally equivalent, and relate to the size of the output. Thus, if 16K lines is the maximum, it would equate to (a maximum possible) 4,000 DPI for a landscape-orientation 4x5, or 2,000 DPI for a landscape-orientation 8x10.
