Nope!

Looks like (Sorry - this IS) the standard set-up of the classic Universal Casket set from 1866. This is basic portrait combination (Petzval). Those I have seen have all 3 digit numbers.

Jamin - Darlot made a lot of interesting lens designs. But you cannot use their serial numbers to estimate year of production, they seemed to have started and stopped numbers a lot.

The Universal Casket set seems to be the first model which was given serial numbers. Other Darlot lenses made at the same time were not given numbers. At the later part of Darlot's production, Only some prestigeous designs had numbers whilst the more "ordinary" and projection products had none.

Thank you.
There are two engraved "PORTRAIT" words on the barrel and rear group. I believed someone engraved later.
Why does the rear group only has one piece of glass if is Petzval or Universal Casket?

No, the Texts are unusually large to match the large "A" and "B" assembly marks on the brass sleeve.

The front achromat is marked A and the rear pair is marked B.

The rear cell unscrews quite easily and should contain the usual two lenses and the spacing ring.

There is a longer thread started by Emil (Gandolfi) which has plenty of photos - see reference below.

There are no engravings of size, but most appear to be the no. 2 size for 7x6", where the largest size aperture is 1.25".

The adjustment is for diffusion control. The shorter barrel is for normal and the extensions increase "flou".

Sister~
The seller does not know the lens too much.
I will check the rear group when I got it.

Checked the rear group.
Two glasses there, but I couldn't screw out the front group.
