This weekend wandering around an antique store in SoCal I found and purchased this Photo-Lab Index. It is from 1953 and has hundreds of pages of detailed information on films, processing and instruction. It measures about 8.5 x 8" and is a binder that is about 4" deep. Too cool to pass up.

I have the mid-1980s paperback version of this book, it is a good reference.

There are many, many pages in this book. It would take me years to scan them all. I can maybe take a section if there is something someone specifically needs.

COOL!

Yes, although the Photo Lab Index contains errors within (like the original 'Darkroom Cookbook')... It is still a very useful and valuable 'Cross Reference'.

1953... Eh?
Great find... Scott!

Best regards, -Tim.

Interesting addition from the WWII era version was a section on using common (household) chemicals as replacements for war shortage ingredients for processing...

That's a neat find.

Here's what I've been dragging around for 45 years. It's from 1962 - I got it in 1970. Anyone want to calculate exposures based on the expected temperature in an explosion? This is a good place to start.

My PLI is from 1972, a youngster compared to yours.

I found this 1946 Kodak Reference Handbook when cleaning out a deceased photographer's darkroom a few years ago.

Just remember that the PLI's are full of mistakes they aren't reliable. Better to use manufacturers own publications.
