I have read that you need 110 ml per 8x10 square inches of film, no matter what dilution you use. That's 9 sheets of 8x10 for one liter of XTOL, undiluted.

I just processed 12 sheets of 4x5 last night in XTOL. So it needed a minimum of 330 ml of Xtol (12 divided by 4 sheets of 4x5). I actually used 350 ml XTOL plus 350 ml of water to get my working solution for the developing tank.

I use 1 litre of Xtol in a tray and get 11 sheets of 8x10 per litre of Xtol by replenishing at the rate of 90ml per sheet every sheet. Kodak says replenish at 70ml per sheet but I use constant tray agitation which oxidises developer slightly quicker hence the higher replenisher rate. At the end of the developing session I just re-bottle the Xtol until next time. My Xtol batch is now 8 years old, never replaced only replenished, and is working superbly.

I use 250ml 1:1 Xtol for each 8x10 film.

The Kodak Technical Data Sheet for XTOL (http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/support/techPubs/j109/j109.pdf) says 100ml of stock per 80 square inches (tell me you don't love the mixing of metric and imperial units of measure).

I've run hundreds of loads of Jobo 3010 tank (thats 10 sheets of 5x4 film which is the same area as 2.5 sheets of 10x8 film) using exactly this, that is, 250ml of stock and 750ml of steam distilled water to dilute. Never had a failure, or anything that could be developer exhaustion. I'm just sayin' that the Kodak data sheet is correct.
