With the subject of copyrights appearing so often on this forum, I thought I would post this link for those who want more information. This is the laws of the United States, and I am sure international laws are similar, though undoubtedly different.

http://www.copyright.gov/ (http://www.copyright.gov/)

Of course, the information is only of interest to those who are interested in it, as it were...

I think...

If you really really really want to research current and developing issues and policies in intellectual property law as well as the current copyright laws then here is a comprehensive site that I use when teaching http://www.gseis.ucla.edu/~howard/Copyright/ (http://www.gseis.ucla.edu/~howard/Copyright/)

An interesting aspect of the law:
You must own the copyright or have permission of the copyright owner in order to ...
"display the copyrighted work publicly, in the case of literary, musical, dramatic, and choreographic works, pantomimes, and pictorial, graphic, or sculptural works, including the individual images of a motion picture or other audiovisual work ..."

which means that if someone buys a print from you, and lends it to an exhibit, or donates it to a museum collection, your permission is technically required. I never knew that.
