I was just randomly clicking through their website, and I ran into this tumblr page...

A lot of historic photographs from their treasure trove...it seems many of them may be large format, although not specified...

definitely getting added to my bookmarks bar.

Wow thanks for sharing. The Autochromes are interesting, I would assume (and agree?) that they were LF, did they ever make a "roll film" autochrome? I can't imagine they did but anything is possible.

Not sure about the original lumiere process, but the developments of the autochrome based on colour pixels (like colour television screens) continued at least until the 1930's with both roll film and movie film.

I love old photos. These were taken with a wide variety of cameras and fomats, over decades. Fun to see the changes.

They apparently have quite a collection of old autochromes. That one with the stuffed lions is a bit surreal. The one time I was at the Smithsonian I simply got
disgusted with seeing aisles of dead taxidermied animals. But that's how natural history was taught for decades. More recently, the Smithsonian netted the last
six authentic hippies still around here, and stuffed them for a 60's diorama. The rest have fled to Garberville.
