My son wants to experiment with Fuji Instant Film.
What are your suggestions for a film holder?
Is there a difference between the Fuji offerings?
He'll be using my GVII if that matters.
Thanks!

What is GVII?

Graphic View II back which takes standard film holders.
Fuji's instant film holders should work.

There's not much choice of holder or film - you need a Polaroid 405 or Fuji PA-145 holder, either of which will accept Fuji FP-100c or Fuji FP-3000b in 3.25x4.25" size, the only size currently produced.

EDIT: I should have mentioned that the 405 and PA-145 are designed for Graflok backs with a removable GG panel. I don't know whether GVII's typically have Graflok fittings.

Yep The GV II had a Graflok back as I believe that may have been one of the differences between the GV & the GV II. That said, they both may have had Graflok backs on that I'm not sure.

Just to clarify: The Graflock back didn't come on GVII for several years -- I guess they had to use up the Graphic backs left over from GV1 production.

That makes sense.

If you want to hunt for the more expensive and larger FP100C45, (not in production except in Japan ? and pricey... but nice.), the Fuji PA-45 holder is the one to use.

I'm afraid FP-100c45 is listed by Fuji as discontinued in Japan as well. Checking two major Japanese retailers, Yodobashi Camera also shows it as discontinued, while Bic Camera no longer lists it at all.

this guy put instax film in plate holder, a similar thing might work in a sheet holder (only if you have an instax camera already)

Just to confirm, the local Fuji rep told me that all of their 4x5 instant film has been out of production worldwide for several years.

well, take that with a grain of salt, given that FP100C45 is available with expire dates of 2016 (and later?) in Japan, so it can't have been out of production for several years since usually this stuff is only dated about 2 years out at most from date of manufacture. But anyway, it is usually good for 3-5+ years past expiration in my experience.
