Hi All -

I noticed a couple of good deals on the Epson 4870 scanner. B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/?ci=1&sb=ps&pn=1&sq=desc&InitialSearch=yes&O=SearchBar&A=search&Q=*&shs=epson+4870) (others too, I'm assuming) is offering a $50 mail-in rebate off a base price of $419, and Epson (#" target="http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=49679245) has refurbished units for $350, shipping included. Might be a good time to pick up one of these newfangled gadgets.

The usual disclaimers...I don't work for Epson or B&H. I'm not a photographer but I play one on TV. No animals were harmed while typing this message. Place on ground, light fuse, get away. Adult supervision required. May cause dizziness. Do not use while operating a motor vehicle. Not for use by small children. Price does not include taxes, tags, and title. Your milage may vary.

Hmmm....the Epson link is kinda strange. Go to their homepage and click the "clearance" link.

According to several websites devoted to digital photography, the Epson 4870 is about to be replaced by something called the Epson 4990. Hence, the 'deals' on the older unit.

Let me restate my post:

any and every time you need a scanner or a digital camera or ink supplies, check out provantage.com. They do not specialize in photo gear and many products will not be there, but what they do stock is usually lower then most other on-line retailers. It is a reputable, well run outfit.
