Cambo and Majestic both offer geared heads. Cosmetically the Cambo doesn't look much different than the Majestic I have mounted on my studio stand. My question has to do with the gearing. My Majestic is only geared on one axis. the others are non-geared. Is the Cambo also geared on only one axis, or is it geared on all three?

I have a Cambo head that came with my 8x10. It's gears on 1 axis.

They're probably the same head then. Cambo just re-branded a Majestic. Thanks, Greg.

Functionally the same. The Cambo is a very well made copy of the Majestic, they've been making them a long time. The Cambo definitely uses metric fasteners, old Majestics were US made, so, Imperial/English, not sure about current production Majestic.

I've had both and they're definitely not the same head, although they are about the same size and weight. I got rid of the Cambo head because I didn't like the fact that the panning plane is at the camera mount. So if the head is tilted, the pan is based on the tilt rather than a leveled base. The Majestic head (that I still use on my FOBA studio stand) pans at the base like most heads.

Guess I'll stick with my Majestic then. It's working fine. Is there a geared head in all three axes?

The Manfrotto heads are geared in all three axes.

Correspondingly, if the head is level, there's no need to re-level if the camera is panned. I generally don't tilt a view camera, so for my purposes, the Cambo might have the better design.
