I was given a 5x7 pinhole camera (a nice handmade one with interchangeable inserts), 4 holders, and an unopened box of 5x7 Arista 100 film. Nice gift! Haven't the faintest idea where to start.

It has a tripod mount, and I'd like to get an idea of what exposure I should use to start of with. I only have the one insert. Would 30 seconds be a good ballpark exposure to start with?

I'd just tray develop the negative in Dilution B of HC110 for 4 minutes, I would think?

First find the f/stop for the pinhole you're using
http://www.freestylephoto.biz/pinhole-camera-aperture-chart
then see what your light meter reads.

Thanks for the link, it gives me a starting point.

If Arista 100 is rebranded Fomapan 100 be prepared to very long exposures, it's a nice film but it does have a very bad reciprocity failure.
