This might be a stupid question, but how to remove the red plastic cover of Jobo TBE-2? I want to use it as water bath to hand process C41. I dont see any screw.

Thanks.

It is glued on. It provides structural support when filled with water. I'd not take it off.

I understand, but it's not that much of water. I dont think the bath could be broken.

I removed the red top on mine so that I can use it as a tempering bath for 5x7 & 8x10 BTZS tubes. I haven't had any structural problems so far. The top is glued in. I used a putty knife to gently break the glue joint and pry the top out. Just be patient and work carefully.

I did that too, a knife, but maybe I was too gentle. Will try again.
Thanks all.

Be careful - TBE2 housing parts are for the most part no longer available.

BTW - The red rack has nothing to do with structural integrity of the unit.

How will you remove the JET off the film?

It looks like the sides will bow out quite a bit when it is full without the top plate. Do you by chance know the recommended fill level? I never found a manual.

I use mine without the top removed. I've never noticed if the sides bow went it's filled with water so the sides must not bow very much. As far as fill level I go about 2" from the top. You could probably go a little fuller, as long as you keep the bottom of the control box out of the water.

I never took the top off mine but it is not glued around the entire perimeter. Therefore there is some play in the sides when empty and this goes away when full, suggesting to me the top might aid in structural support. Also, when lifting the unit to empty it, if feels like it might flex and break without the top. These units are rare and parts are no longer available, so I'm not removing the top on mine unless it needs service.

You guy's worry to much, I'm using mine without the red top, no problem. Yes I use care when I empty it, I have it on the counter next to the sink, just lift one end and pour the water into the sink. I bought mine specifically for use with 5x7 and 8x10 BTZS Tubes so the red top had to go. I did save the top so I could glue it back in if I needed to.
