What is the different between 300mm Heliar and 300mm Universal Heliar except soft focus?Both can cover 8x10 in portrait?

Soft focus is the only difference. The Universal Heliar has moveable center element that controls the diffusion by turning a ring at the front of the lens. Both can cover 8x10 at portrait distances.
