I just finished a new project. It's called "Blue." The jpegs aren't quite right on the monitor but they will give you the general idea. Printed on 17x22 paper, five prints of each, seven images total in project.

I stumbled across this project while shooting another one. Most of my projects involve a lot of planning and forethought. Not so much this one. I just thought they were beautiful.

I hope you like them (I have a set at my gallery/workshop in Half Moon Bay, California, if anyone is in the area).

The lack of response is, well, making me blue... :)

I like them, but it's hard to judge on a puter monitor.

Darin, did you severely tweak the WB to get this look ?...or that was your intent from the beginning ?

I like the first one, think it would look good with one of your waves from the last series I saw...

From the wave series there was one I like that looked like a view of blue "pigment" dust, where each grain of pigment, size of a salt crystal could be clearly seen because of the high resolution that you work with. It's this kind of detail that gives my eye some "tooth" to bite into... that makes a satisfying print to me.

Darin, are these straight photographs or did you use an alternative process to get the stippled/dark patterns? I'm fascinated by the first and third and cannot, for the life of me, figure out what I'm seeing. What did you do, man?!

I think these are stunning. I've been missing color lately, even in my own work. I love their abstract nature. Fabulous.

Here's a 100% crop from the middle of the first one. Grainy film!

They are semi-straight photos. I'm not much of a photoshop person, skill-wise or philosophically. I'd did two or three simple transformations... :)
