Truthfully, I accidentally grabbed and loaded Portra instead of T-Max 100. Wish the foil outer packages weren't almost identical, like how Fuji's different film types are black/blue/magenta. Oops.

Trying out my new roll film back for my Nagaoka camera. Flatbed scanned from print. I found it very hard to compose on a 4x5 screen with only the frame lines etched on the focusing screen. I think duct tape will be used if I want to regularly use this. Also removing the focusing screen to attach the Graflock back was tedious. The old Kodak 203mm did a fine job with color though. The contrast and print quality reminds me of Cibachrome/slide prints for a long time ago. Ektar 100 is like that for me.

Thanks. I think Ektar and Portra have conditions where each has their unique color characteristics.

Those turned out nice. With positive film, I find there is a least a color reference to look at on a light table to judge my editing.

Thank you. Yes this was outdoors, in overcast open shade. Needed the warming filter for that, but the light was just soft enough to keep contrast in check whilst still retaining sculptural qualities. Velvia just sings in situations like this.

The 16-bit ProPhotoRGB original looks even better than this P3 jpeg on a wide gamut display (doubtless in print too). Just a touch more vibrant and lifelike. The web just doesn't cut the mustard sometimes.

For those of you not familiar with New Orleans, there's three colors that dominate the theme of NOLA, especially in relation to Mardi Gras:

To be transparent, the left fence was a little bit more blue than purple but I edited the hue in PS. I'm curious if I could do a bit of that in the darkroom using a selective color burn (a bit more cyan just in that area to make it more red, turning the blue fence purple?).

My first roll of Fujichrome Velvia 50 through a Zeiss Super Ikonta 530. 13 out of 16 images of 6 x 4.5 cm usable. I did the latter half of the film at the Manchester Day event, in Manchester, UK, on 29th July, 2023. A crowd event is not the easiest place to relearn one's Ikonta. I'm going to the Lake District, UK, soon so will try it on landscapes.

All cameras have a learning curve, but your Ikonta is doing a good job for it’s age, and I don’t notice any light leaks. Your medium format slides would look great projected on a big screen.

IMO your images have the midtones lifted too high. For your consideration please see below an alternate rendering. I only chaged the gamma, something that can also be set when scanning.

Of course, your chosen rendering may be intentional. Then just ignore my comment.

Color negative, 120 film in a rollback (6x7) on the 4x5.
Printed on Fuji color paper, processed in converted Ilford Cibachrome machine.

For shits and giggles, I took one 'zooming' by bringing the standards a little out during the exposure.
