It seems no matter how beat up the Pinkham Smith (http://tonopahpictures.0catch.com/Pinkham-Smith/VisualQualitySeriesIV/14No.3SeriesIV/EddiesNo3SerieIV.html) lens is, it can still make outlandishly lovely images.

shiny black fode

YMMV but I think the catch words that get bandied about regarding Pinkham's lenses are not just hyperbole.

No, it's not for sale. I'll be keeping this one.

Jim, the rendering is beautiful, but the combination of subject, light, perspective, diaphragm, composition and presentation is what makes the image what it is, as usual.

I think that the lens is the lesser of all these qualities, at least at this scale, on my monitor. Wish I could see the print.

Beautifully done.

Yes, wide open, which is really my style anyways. Thanks Richard.

I dunno, Jim.... I'm not a soft-focus guy at all, so hardly an informed critic ... but there is something kinda special about this particular lens, maybe the combination of the smoothness and luminosity that stands out a bit more.

I am convinced Jim gets more out of these lenses than most people. Some sort of 'lens whisperer' perhaps?

Whoa, "The Lens Whisperer". Someone should go to Nevada and shoot a video of Jim, his lenses and cars. An instant classic.

Thanks Drew. I think.

Eddie. Already made me infamous. With a bit of scandalous misbehaviour I might add. Blame it on bad company.

Gosh... I want to go back to Tonopah.

Yup ... me too ... when you watch this video look at the cabins ... and light on the cabins ... behind Jim at about the :40sec point of the video. Gotta love that clean desert light!

How about next October?

That'll work. I'll set a reminder and inform my management.

How did the 11x14 shots of the Redwoods turned out?
