Hello everyone, since my ilford hp 5 has gotten hard to obtain I was thinking about trying some jandc 100 or 200. I shoot 8x10. Just wanted to see if anyone had any opinions, yay or nay, about the stuff. I have never been that picky about film really. I use a jobo and try to stick with d 76. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

last I checked they have been out of the classic 100 and 200 for a while now. I've read threads that this film has the exact same charcteristics as bergger and Ilford, it has even been said that they are all the same film.

Eck , i have been using Arista for years now.
Freestyle, who is the retailer ( http://www.freestylephoto.biz/ (http://www.freestylephoto.biz/) ) , won't admit it, but it is an ilford emulsion , namely fp4 and hp5, with a thinner support base.
My wallet likes it even more than the ilford stuff.

Its my understanding that J and C 200, like Freestyle's Arista ".edu" 200 ISO, is Fortepan, while the J and C "Pro" 100 is a Chinese product(Lucky?) Arista "Pro," both 400 ISO and 125 ISO and Photo Warehouse Ultrafine 125 ISO are IMHO Ilford products. I've played with them all (except for the J and C Pro 100) and they behave like the Ilford and Forte products (which is pretty gosh darn good!) Give 'em a try!

Thanks for the feedback. I'd still be loading my film upside down if not for this site! I just ordered a 50 sheet box of the 100pro. I've been wanting to try out a lower asa for a while.

Y'all have a happy holidays,
Eck
