I bought a Umax PowerLook 3000 scanner military surplus a while ago that runs well except for two black verticle lines, one wider than the other that run the lenght of the scan. Is this fixable? This is a scan and a detail from an 8X10 HP5+ negative.123413123414

These may be caused by dust specks somewhere in the scan path, even on the scan light itself.

Thanks for the reply Jim. It was little used but very dirty when I bought it. I verified that it was working, then pulled it all down for a good cleaning. I'll open it up again and see if I can find anything. It's a big unit with an usual design. The image stage moves out and over the light source and lens carriage, which are fixed. It has a 3000dpi capability on a 3.5" strip down the middle, or up to 1200dpi on the full 8.5X11". It runs well on SANE for Linux. $100, how can you loose?
