Check it out . I think a 4X5 camera is always LF no matter which back is used!
Even if I throw a crop frame sensor SLR camera on the back?
Here's another Fujifilm FP-3000B negative shot. I used a 4x5 camera (Gandolfi Precision) with a Polaroid 3.25x4.25 back. I used a bit of tilt-shift to make the model's face the sharpest part of the pic.
(I also have a 4x5 Polaroid back for the same camera, and some old 4x5 Polaroid film - it is strange to think that if I use that, it will count as large format - whereas using the 3.25x4.25 quarter plate size film in the same camera results in it not counting as large format!)

Wonderful shot! I love the lighting!
I agree it is strange that shooting 3x4 on 4x5 doesn't count as large format. My 3x4 shots go here and my 4x5 shots go in the other thread.
Since I haven't (but will be) reclaiming FP-3000B negatives - are you simply doing a reflective scan as opposed to a transmissive one?
Cheers,
Bill
OK, hopefully I've figured out how to get the thumbnails (I guess you've go to get things below 750x750 pixels), so that my posts don't take up quite so much screen space.
BlueRiverDream (http://blueriverdream.tumblr.com/) on Fuji FP-100c (3x4), taken with a KB Canham DLC-45 and Fuji 125 mm. I offered Blue the darkcloth when modeling with the camera in the second photo, and her response was "Dark cloth? Who needs a dark cloth?"

I never realized that while shooting for my HS yearbook in the late 50's with a 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 Speed Graphic with film packs that it was actually a medium format camera!

Someone once said that up until some period in time, anything smaller than 8x10 wasn't considered LF, and it wasn't until the Tachikara or whatever Linhof, that they started calling 4x5 LF as a marketing technique that stuck. So you're lucky, because they could say 8x10 and larger are only allowed on the site.... ;)
...it wasn't until the Tachikara or whatever Linhof...
indeed.
Who was that someone?

Why is it that some people gauge the world... and everyone else... as being concentric... around them? Why are some folks so self-absorbed that they expect everyone around them to bow to their ideals regardless of how uneducated and inexperienced those ideals are?

Why is it that some folks can believe 4x5 is the cat's meow and all who use it are consummate professions but when they "graduate" to 8x10, then within a few weeks time, those shooting 4x5 are now somehow inferior?

The latest gears are ALWAYS better :-)
Bill L. asked yesterday about FP-3000B negatives. Yes, I just scan them as they are (reflective).
The negatives are quite faint, you have to increase the contrast etc after you scan them. They are not proper negatives like Polaroid Type 55 used to produce, they are just junk really. But I enjoy using modern technology to retrieve something from them.
Thanks, GPX! I enjoy shooting the instant film for it's own sake, but I agree that it is fun using modern technology to pull out a worthwhile image (with quite a different mood than the original print) from the "disposable" negatives. I'm hopefully going to be doing some studio sessions with the 3000B in the near future, so I appreciate the input!

Then there's this. My reinterpretation of Marcel Duchamp' 1964 Pasadena, CA performance. I think he got it wrong. My version performed at Barat College, Jane Byrne Room, Lake Forest IL 1997. This is just before 100 art students and professors came into the room to observe. I also shot the picture, 37 times, motor drive 35mm.
This link is to the Marcel Duchamp version. (http://www.toutfait.com/issues/issue_3/Notes/gerrard/pop_3.html)

Not sure why, but I prefer Marcel's version. ;)
It might be because of the flash reflection in yours.

I could easily remove the flash spot now, but chose to retain it. It's now history, not a work in progress.
I also had to play both sides of the chess board as my muse did not play chess. Erika and I collaborated often.

While many men will not find my image pleasant, I can guarantee you it is not my favorite self-portrait. But it was an important performance as expressed by the the Art dept Chairwoman.
I still have prints hanging of Erika. I wish I could shoot her now, she is far away, yet we remain good friends, Erika was 19. Very brave.

Was this an important performance outside of the expression of an unnamed art dept chairwoman, and what exactly does this mean, and why?
Is Erica the Art Dept chairwoman? At 19, that is impressive, and would sure take a lot of courage to do that kind of work at that age.

Sorry for the confusion. Erika is the woman in the picture. We often collaborated. The performance was my idea.
I meant that the Barat College Art Dept chairwoman liked the project so much, she had all static art classes come to the performance, including dance, theater but not the music department. (politics) It was a small art school of 600 students, perhaps 200 saw it. It was only one day for 2 hours.
I was just searching for other examples of this type work. There are some, usually with women naked. I never knew of this example until now. Look here, for a version that predates mine by 1 year! (http://outdoorplay.tumblr.com/post/55521192657/program-19-july-2013-kunsthof-casino)
However this example is only a photograph and not a public performance until 2013.
I am a huge fan of Yoko Ono's work 'Cut Piece' which predates her meeting of John Lennon. Here. (http://imaginepeace.com/archives/2680) In 1964 Japan several were temped to kill her.
Erika now owns a very successful high end hair salon and is completely tattooed. She is featured in tattoo magazines, and married to her business partner with a wonderful child.
I remain tattoo free...

While many men will not find my image pleasant
I used to belong to another photo (critique) site that is now defunk and it seems that when ever there was a nude image of a man there, people (men) would attack it. But if it was a nude image of a woman - it garnered way more views than any other images on that page.

Interesting , Nude photos of naked women had the most views on another analogue photo site i once participated in , A well photographed male form can work really well , Just with the male form you seem to have to do it perfect with great athletic body great lighting da da da . Where with the female form we seem to be more forgiving

Although I mainly shoot LF, sometimes I just feel lazy and want the easiest film option. That's when I bring out my Pentax 645nII medium format camera. Autofocus! Okay, maybe that's cheating, but nice for a lazy break from the serious LF work. Here are two nudes I took this week with the Pentax. I'm just curious how did you correct for using the wrong iso? 5 stops underexposed I would think there would be very little detail on the negative but your photo came out great! What did you do to save it?

Archie McPhee released a really fun banana slug mask (https://mcphee.com/products/banana-slug-mask) a couple of months ago, and I decided that I needed to shoot a model wearing it. It looked great on the yellow duochrome Impossible Project film (https://us.impossible-project.com/products/third-man-records-black-and-yellow-film-for-polaroid-600-cameras) shot through my Polaroid SX-70 with a ND filter over the film pack (https://us.impossible-project.com/collections/accessories-for-polaroid-sx-70-film-and-cameras/products/filmpack-nd-filter-twinpack). Honestly, I've been really frustrated shooting nudes, and it was pure cathartic bliss to be intentionally silly and bizarre with a fun model.
I like it!
That yellow duotone film is good isn't it? I suspect it might achieve better tonality when scanned and turned into black and white than the black and white film does!
Here's one I did.

I know there are many Callipygian carvings and gardens that exhibit similar forms. But, curiosity only. is your image of a stone(?) monument/statue {and is so where} OR a photograph of a portion of the buttocks and thighs of a human?

Thank you, the lack of any sign of hair on 'the body' and the apparent coarseness of the surface gave me the reason to be curious.
Certainly the effect is of some massive structure.

Hallo Genfer yes I did also not see to much from you!;--))
Gruss Armin
Thank's Martin and dpn, I wish I could more write about my pictures but I do not write very well english :(
Yes Martin, we had great fun, it was not easy for the models to be serious!
Armin:

Hi Ritchie,
Are your the Ritchie I know...I mean the "real Ritchie" :)
Did you advance with your large format ?
Yes, these are complete new pictures, there is not a real connection to my

There are still so many tales (of course only for adultes) to create :)

Clickma,
Pose, body angle, light coming from, tonality.. There are many positives i see in this portrait.
Hair and down looking direction, summed with small breast: I'm not a model, just a beautiful woman, more then my body shows...
All of this comes to my mind when I look to this portrait, and one thing more: once upon a time, I was mad by a swiss woman (shoooot, not too loud, my wife can listen it)
:)

What do you mean by saying "7 stops"?
If you use the Zone System, the tonal range of the subject (subject brightness ratio or SBR) requires you to use different film development times.
7 Stops is a "normal" amount of SBR.
So although the image was of quite low contrast, I made no adjustment in the development time of the film.
If you are really interested in the Zone System there is an excellent book on the subject "Beyond the Zone System" by Phil Davis - available on Amazon.
