Replacement motor Jobo CPE

Hi, has anyone recently replaced a motor in a Jobo CPE machine and can name a good source for the motor unit? There are some good threads out there on the replacement procedure, but I am looking for some alternative sources for the motor itself.

Talk to Omer Hecht at CatLABS. They're an authorized Jobo reseller. He often has spare parts and can help with installation instructions. Super to work with.

Thanks, I wrote to him just now, but I had read already that these replacements are €100 each, so I was hoping that there is a cheaper alternative.

There was a rumour that the CPE motors were actually car windscreen wiper motors (probably BMW or Mercedes). Not sure how much truth there is in that, but it's possible.

Yes they are most definitely wiper motors (part number SWF 402.506), but it is just an independent parts maker. The maker is "SWF" and they are a wiper motor maker (http://www.valeoservice.com/html/export/en/products.gammesdetail-swf-15236851824107751446CDC.html). Of course if you were able to figure out what car model used these...

I think my problem may not be the motor, after all, but the controller. The motor is running really slow and on fast setting 2 in one direction it makes a terrible clicking sound within the controller board, not sure from where exactly. The voltage to the motor is just 6.8V on setting 1 and 8.6V on setting two... any ideas what this could mean?

The later motors are from a Mercedes head rest motor.
I have heard they are B&W widshield wiper motors.

From waht I understand many wiper motors fro late 90's german cars will fit.

Thanks, but this is the CPA2, the motor is different. These are also wiper motors and, at least on german ebay, seem to be readily available. I need the CPE/CPE2 motor, which is different.

Anyway, I just spoke to Klaus Seynsche. He says there are no more spare motors because the maker has gone bankrupt so he has no spares. he can service the later machines fairly easily, but not CPE.

Anyway, in my particular case he says that gear grease has entered the motor causing the problem. I should take it apart and clean the motor and that should solve it.

Dirk, I retro fitted a different motor to my CPE. I ended up using an industrial DC motor with a reduction gear set. It did require me modifying the unit to , as well as making a coupling. I also now use a separate variable power supply to power the motor circuit as the jobo psu had also failed.

While I really had to hack the unit, in the end it should be a lot more reliable.

I can get the specs and post pictures if you are interested.

The problem with the windshield wiper motors is that there are thousands of them, all made on an oem basis.

That's not necessarily the problem because the part has a number and a manufacturer, but the parts (and cars) are from the 1980s and the spec of the products is totally different nowadays or the manufacturers are obsolete. These are "antiques".

For CPE the motor is SWF gear motor 402.506 (possible alternative SWF gear motor 402.932).

For the CPP/CPA machines, it is 403.304 (new version) and 403.278 (old version). These are more recent and JOBO repairers in Germany have them in stock.

I have replaced my motor 2 years ago.
Yes, the original motor is used for cars and you can find almost the same made by Valeo. Same dimensions, better torque.
The Valeo motor is better.
