I was looking at the lens and wondering if it would work on the MT so I gave it a try - seems to focus from about 30 - 40 feet on just fine.

I doubt I'll make it my everyday lens on this camera - probably more practical to use it on the 5 x 7 with a 4 x 5 reducing back. But nice to know it works OK

That's huge! The front standard / rails seem to be deflecting a lot. Not sure I'd put that kinda stress on the front without some kind of auxiliary support (I use a monopod on the front of my cameras sometime for extra support).

The longest lens I've used on my MT is a 500mm Nikkor-T, on an ext. board. I can get the 720mm to focus only on my Chamonix 45n1 w/ ext. bracket, or on my Toyo GII. But I rarely use either the 500/720 lenses. Actually I rarely use the Nikkor-T set around here, but when I was up in the Appalachians I used them a lot.

Actually the rails don't really deflect much if at all - I checked for that. I think it's just how it looks in the photo. And I do have a support that I can use for it.

This isn't something I really want to do on a regular basis - I'll normally be happy with 360mm as the long lens on the MT.

The Fuji 600T would be lighter and a lot more ergo. But since you already have the Nikon.... Good hunting!

Thanks. - it is sort of a brick, but I don't wander far from the car these days. And since I already had it might as well use it.
