Wanted Chicago LF shooters to meet in Chicago SOON!

We are starting a new Chicago Large Format Photography Club (CLFPC) in Chicago metropolitan area. So far we have several Large Format (LF) photographers have joined the Club, we would like to have more LF photographers to participate activities in this club. This club is dedicated to photographers who are interested in Large Format Photography (LFP) in Chicago metropolitan area. This club is not only for experienced LF photographers, but also for LF beginners and people who want to get into LFP. We plan to have our first meetup to discuss how we organize this club in the weekend of September 20-21, 2014 in downtown Chicago (Ge Pa De Caffe, http://www.yelp.com/biz/ge-pa-de-caffe-chicago-3). Some activities and plans we might want to do are:
1. Have a meetup every month;
2. Shoot LFP with a view or field camera in Chicago;
3. Share LFP project ideas and techniques;
4. Show and tell your LFP works;
5. Networking and make friends.

I kinda hate to say it, but Facebook page might be an idea. Maybe not a good idea, but an idea.

Make it a closed group, like the High School groups that I never pay any attention to.

FB would allow a calendar, easier posting of a lot of things.

I am not the guy to set that up.

Also this next weekend is Art Expo Chicago at Navy Pier and most players in art will be there and all over the city. They will have expensive prints to gaze upon. I will be there. It's usually a pretty good party. We used to crash it with ad hoc 'Performance Art'. One year the guards stopped our merry troupe, until a 'somebody' yelled at them and said, 'Those are the people you let in free!' ymmv

I'm hoping this will be a repeat thing, and that you'll have a lot more opportunities.

It seems like through this forum is an OK way to arrange these things, with a perpetual LFChicago post in the Groups and Meetings forum. I'm like Randy--everytime I see a Facebook link, I cringe because so often you're forced to sign in to see anything, and I dumped Facebook for a number of reasons, in favor of more open sources of info. This IS The Place To Be for large format people, anyway.

I'm busy with a visitor on Saturday, but I will push open a space in my schedule if something materializes here.
