From the American Masters Dorothea Lange video.
Looks to me like a 9x12, but that front door action must be unique.

I can't say for sure, but because of the triple extension bed, the shape of the bracket connecting the rear standard to the bed and the knurled knob on the front standard, my best guess would be a Zeiss Ikon Universal Juwel. It could be an earlier or later model, or maybe something else altogether. Many of the German folders of that period look remarkably similar.

One example (http://forum.mflenses.com/ica-zeiss-universal-juwel-9x12-plate-camera-t51165.html).

Another example (http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcameramate.com%2Fimages%2F19700-3.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcameramate.com%2Fvintage%2F2-x-cameras-Universal-Juwel-w-angle-camera-Protar-Tessar-Hypergon-Protarlinse.html&h=891&w=1200&tbnid=wJwcSRKss0B8OM%3A&zoom=1&docid=X2qcA3fr5OtRaM&ei=Fv8EVNGDLY-pyATpgoHQCg&tbm=isch&client=firefox-a&ved=0CC4QMygSMBI&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=763&page=1&start=0&ndsp=22).

I believe it probably is a 1930's-40's Speed Graphic since that's part of a photo of Dorothea Lange from that era. The full photo has her on the top of a car, and you can see it among the photos in Mary Street Alinder's Ansel Adams: A Biography. I just finished re-reading the book today.

looks like a folder .. the front standard framer / composition tool is a dead give away ...

It can't be a Speed Graphic in the posted image. The shape of the front standard, the brilliant finder, the disconnected front bed, the shape of the main box -- all those details are completely different on a Speed Graphic (any Speed Graphic). The camera looks like a European 9x12 plate camera. It's difficult to be certain about the exact make and model.

Zeiss Juwel seems to be the closest match.

Book reference: "Daring to Look: Dorothea Lange's Photographs and Reports from the Field" By Anne Whiston Spirn

Page 323 confirms that it is a Zeiss Juwel which produced 3.25 x 4.25 inch negatives.

I think of all the cameras I have owned, or sold, it is more likely to be a JEwel than any other. Mine had a triple convertible lens mounted on a quick release plate. The length of her bellows extension would indicate a longer than normal lens.

I have a Trona 212 1/4 plate folder which is delightful, small with 3 plate holders in OE case

The whole kit is smaller than a Century Graphic

Better view of the Universal Juwel or Universal Palmos - it is the model with the 9x12cm format:

This is the ICA made for stereo (and you could use it also as a mono/panorama like in this picture); I think its predecessor made by Emil Wünsche was called the Reicka camera:

https://thumbs.worthpoint.com/zoom/images1/1/0917/12/ica-reicka-stereo-panorama-10x15cm_1_c8a8b3f07a8d3cd19192ee77281df53b.jpg

its not the camera used by Lange

...its seems her camera had its bellows clips removed...or never had them

Very nice sample Mauro, does this also have the 'automatic' back, i.e. you can turn it clockwise or counter clockwise to easy shift from horizontal to vertical view?

Very nice specimen: did you get it with the matching plateholders? The 12x9 holders seem to be more rare than the 10x15 and the 13x18 holders - took me several years to find two (one with ICA and one with Zeiss logo) - but sold them together with a very fine ICA Favorit 9x12. Here's a picture of my collection of German plateholders before I sold the two (seen second from the right side):

Very bad news, no film holder with camera for us, it will be an interesting search in the future, also 13x18 one's seemed nowhere to be found, now I have 4, like the search for the Holy Grail roughly ... :)

Will the Tessar 180mm cover 13x18 at infinity?
When I have some free time, I'm going to try 3d printing a lens board - it is not just a simply flat metal board.
I am currently looking for original lenses (see attachment).
I have an age correct 210mm Zeiss Tessar 4.5 in a Compound shutter, but it comes up too short to match the infinity stop on the track - I do not see any way to adjust the stop - I guess the original lens was supplied in a Compur shutter.
