Hopefully this is the right forum to post this, apologies if it's not.

I'm looking for an Anba Ikeda 4x5. I hear great things about them and am wondering if anyone knows a place that may have one or someone who is interested in selling. I hard item to find!

Thanks
David

You might want to search this forum, or better use Google to search for 'Anba Ikeda 4x5'. There are frequent comments regarding poor construction.

Also consider widening your search to include the Nagaoka 4x5, an almost identical camera that is more widely available in the used market.

I've had two. The first one was the first 4x5 camera I bought. After that I tried Crown Graphic, and Norma and then a Tachihara. I sold the Ikeda when I bought the Tachi, but then sold the Tachi and bought an Ebony. Then I saw another Ikeda for a good price, and I had regretted selling the other one, so I bought that one. Its perfect for travel, especially in place I would be worried about taking the Ebony. I don't think either one was poorly constructed; they are lightly constructed, and only weigh about 2 and a half pounds. That's a trade off, I guess. Brett Weston used to use the 8x10 Naogoaka, which is essentially the same camera.

Anyway, search here on the For Sale section (you will be able to access that after you have been a member for 30 days), and set up a search on Ebay. You will find one eventually (don't ask me for mine, as I'm dying with that camera).

I wish I had never sold mine. I wold love to get another one as well as a 5x7 and an 8x10. The larger sizes are quite rare because not many were made.

There is an Ikeda 4X5 for sale now at KEH, $450 I believe.
