hi,

I am brand new to LF and have just traded in an old model arca swiss 4x5 monorail view camera. I believe it is a model B axis tilt.

However I got a problem with the ground grass. I found the depth of film plan is about 0.08 inch(2 mm) more than the GG. I tried several 4x5 film holder with film installed and this difference always exist. (it is a non graflok back)

I think it is possible that there was a Fresnel lense installed between GG and the lense before. So if you happen to have an old model arca swiss 4x5, could you please help to verify whether there is a Fresnel lenseor not, and if yes how thick is the Fresnel?

Thanks for your helps!

The older Arcas I've had came without fresnels but that doesn't mean that they ALL didn't come without fresnels.

I have an older model A, and it has small shims between the gg and the frame in order that the gg plane of focus matches that of the film holders. I just went and measured them, and they are .072", or about 1.8 mm. Hope this helps.

Thanks Ron!
I think that fills in the depth difference.
