Scotvill 5x8

Look what I just received today.
This 5x8 in Scotvill weighted less than 1.5 kg. Customized the plate holder 4 1/2 x7 1/2 and half plate format. New build the ground glass to match the focus . All made with Mahogany wood. ROSS 5x8 Rapid Symmetrical on board.

5x8s are great little cameras, and cheap because of no film for that size. Great for wetplaters. I have a Rochester 5x8 that I can put a stereo lens set onto. Yours doesn't look like it has the septum for stereo, but I can't see the rear very well.

Scotvill 5x8 is not a new format to me, although each of cameras I have has its own application. I have the Chamonix 5x8 for film. This one and the other one here are for plates.

Randy. This is my least expensive camera but is a joy to use. Total investment is under $450. Here's another plate from tonight.

I have one that leaks light horribly so the inside is a mess of tape and glued wood strips. But its simplicity and weight are wonderful. Who made your wet plate back?
