We’ll bring you work both traditional and controversial, innovative and touching, bold and inventive, and yet always inspiring and provocative. You’ll find work by artists who are well known alongside those whose names are unfamiliar (with links to see more of their work) in addition to regular features such as letters to the editor, and the ever-popular Tales from the Lens. Best of all, a one year subscription will set you back just $19.95. Or, if you prefer, purchase individual issues for $3.50 each. When you subscribe, your money helps pay the artists who make up each issue of Looking Glass. I've for long admired Foschi's work in large format. His newer style is also very good.

I had some trouble subscribing with my iPad because some of the pages where cut off on the right had side. But with a little perseverance I was able to subscribe. I have only glanced at the first issue but so far I'm very impressed. I'll have time this weekend to sit down and really enjoy it.

Hi Roger! Thank you so much for subscribing! Just a heads up... the best viewing environment (for now) is a laptop or desktop computer. I'm waiting on an app update for iOS, which is due to be released in about a month. Some of the features, such as html popup, and videos, may not function properly when viewed on mobile iOS, such as the iPad. That issue will be resolved when the app is released. I'm anxious to view it on my iPad too.

For now, yes. I haven't the funds to currently finance a printed issue. We hope to offer a printed option during our second year. (It's one of our goals.) Our advisors have recommended that we wait. Hope that helps.

It is in pdf format, and it is printable ( I printed a couple of pages for testing).
Great idea if you have a good printer, and a perfect answer to those who complain about not having a print version available.

Yes, it's printable, and it's fine with us if you print out a copy. We're currently mapping out issues 2 and 3, and will be sharing some pretty amazing work with you in those issues. Hi Andrew! Did you receive a confirmation email when you subscribed? If so, then there is a separate email to validate your account. Once you do that, sign into your account (using your email and the password that you created). In your account there should be a tab that says something along the lines of "my magazines" or "my library." Your LG zine issues will be automatically uploaded there. If you have any problems accessing your account don't hesitate to contact me again. Hope this helps. -- LC

I read the page before I posted. I read where content can be read by logging onto the site independent of the devices operating system. However if you own an IOS device like an iPad you can download content, unplug and read the magazine without being tethered to a network.

I use Zinio and Kindle, both of which have Android versions for off line reading. Is there an Android reader?

I liked the layout of #2 a lot better than #1. The first ed had some pages with two images per page and the second was limited to only one image per page. This made viewing on the ipad so much better as no zooming was required. Zooming is not bad, just not as clear. Just thought I would note it was appreciated. Really enjoyed magazine, keep up the great work.

It's excellent. I print it out to read. I don't really like reading on a screen in my leasure time after being on one all day...

I need 'push' printing so it shows up on my desk like mailed magazines.

I just like to read, so I get lots of paper magazines and even more E-Magazines.

But some of the digital screen feed gets glossed over, whereas paper is often read and reread.

I do love E-pub, as over the years have had to divest myself of tons of paper magazines and newspapers or this hoard would be far worse...:)

Please keep it all coming in whatever format.

some areas were easy to get to like Lake Louise, in Banff National Park, very toursity. Some required a bit of hiking, for example Lake Agnes ( the snow one ) I was camping in the Kicking Horse River campground in September when a cold front blew in bringing rain to the valley bottoms but snow higher up, Lake Agnes is around 2134 metres ( 7002 ft ) I knew that there would be snow up there, so I hustled my way up the 3.5 km trail from Lake Louise backpacking my 4 x 5 view camera, tripod and lenses, got up there by in the morning sometime, the snow was still fresh and beautiful, by afternoon it had pretty well all melted.

For trips the photos of Purgatory Glacier and Purgatory Mountain, in the Bella Coola area of B.C. I needed a 4 x 4 vehicle which I owned at the time, it was mostly driving over decommissioned logging roads with just a bit of hiking from the logging roads to get those views. The photograph of illecillewaet glacier, in Glacier National Park ( Canadian Park ) is not a long hike but steep, its a 5.7 km hike one way with an elevation gain of 869 metres. With large format gear I take my opportunities where I can find them, sometimes close at hand other times some hiking involved, although I pretty well limit myself to doing day hikes.

I'm not sure that you're missing a step. As long as you have the link, which you do since you subscribe, I think that download is automatically allowed. I tested download right before I published LG#9 late last night, though I was logged in at the time of my download test. I contacted tech this afternoon and the temporary solution they suggested was for subscribers to login to download the PDF. Since that was described as a *temporary solution* I'm guessing that login shouldn't be required. A ticket was submitted to the engineers by tech and I hope to hear back soon from them.

In that image, notice the film for sale which is exactly like it looked last month. They have plenty of old film gear in all formats. View cameras to 8x10, darkroom gear, many chems, paper and film to 4x5 and will special order from Ilford.

They also sell modern digital and stock Leica.

I visit whenever I am near and buy something, usually film, every time.

Don, the 3rd generation owner, a font of knowledge, works the floor handing out cookies and worthwhile advice.

There's more to tell, and I think this Store deserves an article with images. Perhaps the hidden side of the over 3 story store. I say over as I have only gotten into 2 stories, but I know there is more...

They are NOT an flossy Internet presence, but sell the old fashioned way, person to person, one at a time for as long as it takes. I have stories. Many others here do also.

Since this is all work of love, we have no budget and do not need one, but will need to have enthusiasts write about their local camera store treasure, for free and without travel expenses.

We can do interviews with shop owners, management and employees., generally these are family business. There may be many more than we realize. Take pictures.

I know Kenosha, WI has one, but I have never been there. I NEED to go there! There are a couple in Ohio. I can do Kenosha and Chicago, maybe the guy in Des Plaines, IL is still at it.

There are also repair shops to cover and they are all over the world.

We cannot forget International. My friend swears by his repair guy in Istanbul and carries his gear there for repair!

However if we write them all up here, there will be no need to publish in your magazine.

So, we need to go covert...protect our sources and info until you publish. This is sounding better all the time!

I have had 2 days of problems with JooMag renewal to LG mag. I was a subscriber for a year and now the site tells me to renew, then it takes my Credit card info twice in 2 days and then rejects my payment as already paid.

However i used the same card both times and it has no deductions and I cannot access the latest issues. So I am not current.

Very confusing JooMag interface, that seems more geared to their continued promotion rather than your magazine.

Downloading issue 13 seem to be completely beyond me. I did buy a 2 year subscription just in case mine had lapsed. Still can't download the issue. Work has been very intense so my brain is a little fried right now. Maybe I can figure it out this weekend.
