I met Brian in Tampa shortly before he moved to Oregon and over the years exchanged many messages with him. He was a good photographer, an interesting person, and a generous contributor to this forum. RIP.

I met with Brian a few times when he lived in Bend and I was spending summers/winters there. We showed each other photos and talked, had dinner together with our respective wives, etc. He was a valuable contributor here and a fine man. May he rest in peace and my sincere condolences to his wife and family.

That's a shame. Brian was an excellent contributor here, and fresh comments from him will be sorely missed. Posts he made in the past, however, will be part of his legacy to the LF community.

Oh, dear... I am so sorry to read that. Thanks for sharing.

From the member list it looks like he was our second most senior active member, after Tuan. Is there some way we could communicate a message of condolence to his family on behalf of the forum?

I had noticed his absence from the forum --- so sorry to hear the news. Brian was one of those who made this forum a wonderful repository of information and idea sharing. Indeed, a great loss.

RIP Brian.

The notice refers to Brian's habit of pulling over to help animals who wandered into traffic.

He probably saved a lot of lives.

Wow. Rest in peace Brian. Too darn young.

People drift in to the forum, then out, sometimes back in. Hard to know what happens.

My family fondly calls all of you my "imaginary friends." My imagination is a bit sadder today with the posts about Brian and Tim.

I am sad to hear this, as well. Brian always had good info to pass along, and with humor.

He is already missed around here.

Oh my, that is so sad. I always thought Brian had a wonderful, dry sense of humor that sometimes came across in his posts. I'll miss his contributions.

A sad loss. Brian had a wealth of knowledge, and his opinions were always well thought out and reasoned.

I'm planning another camping trip to Baraboo and was going to look him up... I had written to Brian in '12 and this was his response:

Hi Chris - Yes, we were in Central Oregon (Bend) for six years. We moved there from Florida, which I lived most of my life, after I retired. We loved it there but felt that as we get older we should be closer to family and my wife's son and grandchildren live in this area so we moved just a couple months ago. Baraboo is a nice town and the area is pretty but not as nice as Oregon for landscape photography (or if it is I haven't discovered it yet).

I remember Brian being one of the friendliest and most encouraging people when I first became involved with this community when I was about 15 years old. To hear of his passing is sad, but I am fortunate to have communicated with him, especially early on when I needed it most.

In addition to his photographic knowledge, Brian was a first class Tax Attorney. We discussed much more than just photography in our private e-mails. Brian's a fine man and will be missed by many. RIP my friend.

Brian was a very nice and thoughtful guy. I met him at a workshop back in 2005 maybe?

He always contributed in a positive way here, and while it appears he was very active, to me that was somewhat irrelevant. It was the quality and nature of what he said that was really valuable and reflected on who he was the best.

Rest in peace Brian.
