View Full Version : Mounting lens to lens board
Folks, I've recently purchased an older arca swiss and separately a super angulon 90mm . The lens has a brass shim to stop the shutter being pressed too tightly against the board, if I don't use this shim I can't adjust the aperture if I do I can't get the lens retaining ring to thread on to the shutter.
Can I purchase a deeper ring or am I missing something?

Sounds like your lensboard is too thick. You might need a rebate cut in the rear for the retaining ring to sit in and allow enough thread to be exposed so it will engage. I've never used an Arca, so it's a bit of a SWAG. But that's what it sounds like to me.
Thanks Will, I had a feeling that was the case.
You also might be able to mount the retaining ring to the front of the board with small screws. Maybe not ideal but it usually works.
