Anyone else see last nite's PBS feature "Salt" with Murray Fredrick? Camped out for several years on a salt pan in the Aussie outback with a film 8x10 (maybe a Sinar). Very enjoyable flick.

I saw that a few years ago. It's excellent. I tried photographing in the middle of a salt flat in Saskatchewan, but had to get out as I could literally feel the water being sucked from my body!

It's twenty bucks for the two disc set from PBS Home Video (or the PBS official website). I'm damn tempted. I don't care much for some of the nite pics with startrails in them, but otherwise, some very nice work which required a lot of persistence. Resembles the salt pan in Death Valley, but leading off into infinity, without any mtns in the background. He camped on the damn thing, towing his gear in a little trailer behind a bicycle, thru the muck. Can't imagine the salt was all that good
for his camera gear either. NG published a couple of his shots, but as usual, completely blew it by printing them the size of postage stamps. These kind of things need to be viewed large, just like the real scene. I assume he was shooting Fujichrome, but could be wrong.
