View Full Version : Bellow Distance of some of the 210mm Lenses
I have a Sinar 4x5 system and I just wonder which lens I should use for now. I'd like to use one with short bellow distance. The lenses are:
Fujinon W 180/5.6
Rodenstock 72 Sironar-S 210/5.6
Schneider G-Claron 210/9
Schneider Symmar-S 210/5.6
Thx.
huh?
the 180 is the shortest, but you know that.
the sironar-s is the sharpest.
use the g-claron
send the sironar to me:)

Flange focal lengths
210mm G Claron = 205mm
210mm Symmar-S = 200.9mm
210mm Apo Sironar-S =202mm
But! Something is wrong with your list. An Apo Sironar S covers 75° and an Apo Sironar-N covered 72° so you can not have what you listed.
Additionally the 180mm being the shorter focal length will have the shortest FFL. For example. The 210mm Apo Sironar-S has a FFL of 202mm but the 180mm Apo Sironar-S had a FFL of 177mm.
If you don't know what these numbers mean then this may help. The shorter the FFL the less extension is needed to reach infinity focus.
You are right that the Sironar is the 72 N.
I have the 4x5 setup, but have not used it much. I have the 210 Symmar-S on the camera, but I have to extend the bellow very far.
I also have other lenses with shorter focal lengths. Of course they are for different uses.
Thx.
