It's on DVD and iTunes/Amazon in Canada but not in the US yet. It will be playing in the SF Bay area in April 18--but I'll be in Ashland watch Shakespeare that night!

I liked his Manufactured Landscapes, especially the opening scene of the endless factory.

I think this National Geographic shot is better. Really liked his Manufactured Landscapes and Railcuts work. Not sure where he's going with this super contrast, ultra digitized looking stuff.

My God! Is that a Hasselblad Luna Burtynsky is using at the 0:50 mark?

Not to derail but this is one of the most breathtaking prints I'd ever seen in person, at the Brooklyn Museum like ~7 years ago

He should bring out his Phillips 8x10 again. :)

I'm looking forward to it. He does some great work and his prints are very well done for being so large.

"Ultra digitized"? He uses digital cameras, what are you expecting?

for those who live in our near Vancouver BC, the Vancouver Art Gallery is currently having a Burtynsky exhibition and both Manufactured Landscapes and Watermark are playing as part of the exhibition in one of the side rooms on the same floor.

I have a copy but I just watched the opening again via your link. Great to see again. But I had forgotten about the voice-over about 80% through.

Needless, pedantic, wholly uninformative. Looks like the filmmaker lost his courage and retreated to more comfy environs. But still a cool idea and fun to watch.

I take NG's rendition of photographers like this with a grain of salt. The first thing they mess up is the cropping, so the compositions rarely work in the magazine like
they would in a real print. And things intended to be viewed big are obviously very small. And a well-done RA4 print has more subtle control than the printed page,
though NG is hardly amateurish in the latter respect. But I have yet to see a case when they hired a well-known "art" photographer and didn't butcher his work.
They should stick to photojournalism.

Not on USA iTunes. It's listed but if you try to buy it it will ask you if you want to change stores to the Canadian iTunes. When you switch and try to but it tells you you aren't allowed since you don't have a Canadian account...

I strongly recommend another film specifically meant to teach Americans cultural sensitivity to Canadians. Its called, Canadian Bacon.
