This is the only one for 8 x 10 that I can find mentioned on the web--I imagine it could be converted to Deardorff. For a while I was thinking of building one myself out of 3mm birch plywood, for 5 x 7 --it's not a very complex object: a box with a mirror and an eyepiece.

this is where i originally say the video and i saw the wikipedia on paolo.
he is one of my favourite photographers.

i am trying to figure out the viewfinder brand so i can pick one up for my 8x10 deardorff

i saw that awhile as well. i was debating about building one myself. the only 8x10 viewfinders i can find on the web are the toyo or sinar .
but the paolo's viewfinder is neither toyo or sinar.

I don't think Sinar ever made an 8x10 reflex finder. I believe the one in the first image was made by Toyo (or was it Horseman?) and probably attached to the back of the Deardorff with Velcro, unless the owner made a Toyo-compatible plate and screwed it onto the Deardorff back.

Sinar didn't necessarily make a reflex finder but they do have a wide-angle bellows style contraption that clips in at the ground glass frame and then you can attach the "binoculars" with magnifier to that and use the elastic band to have this secured around your head. it does work and I've used it on my Sinar P 8x10 as it was part of the full kit time capsule I purchased a while back.

It should be possible to modify the Toyo 8x10 reflex to fit a few other camera's ... velcro, rubber bands ...

Not an inexpensive contraption though ...

My severe back pain and hip does not allow me to carry heavy cameras. So I bought a Bulldog 4x5 and one 8x10.

The Bulldog 4x5 I have adapted a rotary Linhof Technika back with a reflex viewfinder, I've also put a front mount Linhof Thecnika ... now I feel very comfortable with her and weighs very little.

The Bulldog 8x10've only changed one back SINAR P to put the bellows with binocular magnifier.

I have other cameras but they are too heavy for my sick body, and not the sack of the study.



Long and use the Bulldog Tachiara 6x9 with Horseman back his reflex viewer to enjoy.
