Today I received 5 new 11x14 film holders and I am looking for a hard sided case to cradle these rare items. They cost more than the camera.

I know of the fine Chinese soft bag on eBay, but I would buy that and then put the soft bag in a hard case for travel and storage.

That doesn't make any sense for me.

I have a pile of odd cases, that just don't quite work.

Need 13 x 18 x 8" inside to allow padding between holders.

Suggestions?

Suitcase?

DIY?

Randy, sorry not an answer to your question, I know, but what kind of holders did you wind up getting? Thanks.

Pelican case? I'm thinking maybe one of the top loaders so you can store the holders vertically.

Lightware? This one looks like it would work.

That is a nice case, but need 2 more inches in height.

Maybe the Chinese thing and a Pelican. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201034912066?_trksid=p2055120.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Office Depot and Office Max have some document cases that I use for equipment storage to and from gigs. I don't have one handy to measure, and I think the common ones are for 8.5x11 documents, but they might have some legal-size ones as well. I guess you would need A3 size. Might be worth checking out, if there's one nearby. I think the ones I have were $40 but they send out 20% off coupons all the time.

oops, the Ebay soft bag is 3/8" 10mm too short.

Cancel that!

Good idea, but everything is inches short. Found some real nice ones that almost fit 8x10's but no go. Close, we are getting there.

Here's what I really want, so I can use the bike, but once again just a little too small. This time, not room for any padding on width, I need maybe 3/8 more there. The other 2 dimensions are great.

Found it.

Pelican 1550 without foam, I will custom fit it.

$130 delivered and I can use it also as a saddlebag.

Thanks for all your input!

I'm sure you are anxiously waiting for my next post, but I did find something, that will work for a while. The nice soft/hard case that came with Calumet Cadet 4x5's. It holds them just. I can now put everything back, that I had to dig out to find this great case.

Now back to night shooting of the bridge removal outside my door. I wish they would get moving.

Today I discovered The Container Store. I had never been there. Found good storage solutions for many LF things.

Also found but did not buy, a wood open box that looks a lot like the film holder boxes on Semi Centennial stands. My stand is missing that.

I feel better now that my long awaited holders sleep safely.
