I know the make kits and really its looks to just be a complete rear standard and bellows for Sinar F. But I cant seem to find them anywhere thou I assume they are not being made anymore. I did find a few for the P and Norma cameras. Not sure if they would still work. Does anyone know of a dealer that might have one.

Ryan - I'm not absolutely sure, but I believe there was an 8X10 F2, but not an 8X10 frame to fit the earlier F series. This catalog shows the 8X10 F2 on page 10: http://www.cameramanuals.org/prof_pdf/sinar_code.pdf

This guy seems to be saying the P larger format frames don't fit his F2:

However he came up with a clever hack to solve that problem.

These Flickr pictures may be from the same person. I didn't take time to compare the two sites: http://www.flickr.com/photos/65095569@N00/8150349360

Keep in mind when you get to 8X10 in Sinar there is the metering vs. non-metering back and bellows which I believe don't interchange . I don't quite understand that myself, although I have some pages Bookmarked on the subject. I can post the links, or you can do a search here on LF Forum.

If the Sinar 8X10 conversion doesn't seem practical for you, I may be willing to part with an 8X10 Ansco. I'll be in Spokane tomorrow for a doctor appointment if you want to take a look at it. But I think converting your Sinar may give you a nicer camera if you can find the pieces. It just may take awhile and be more expensive.

I have 4x5 and 8x10 Sinar F2 cameras, both complete from the factory.

The 8x10 F2 was only available with a metering back. That's slightly larger (height & width) than
the non-metering back, so it requires a different rear standard and different bellows.

The front standard on the 8x10 F2 is also different than the 4x5, with much heavier support rods.

You can identify the front and rear standards by the rod diameters:
For the 8x10 version, front rods are 15mm diameter, while the rear rods are 20mm diameter.
The rods for the 4x5 standards are substantially less, but I don't have the numbers handy.

The only component that is fully interchangeable between the 4x5 and the 8x10 is the base rail.

Thanks, I will just have to email sinar, i know at one point I had found a part number for the kit but I just cant find it or a link. If anyone happens to know if the F and F2 parts interchange that could be helpful. With the cost of 8x10 going up im sure the price of the cameras is going down. Might just wait till i find a master view I like.

Yes, Sinar made 8x10 back for silver f series. It was strange construction with very limited movevents. Somewhere in the boxes after move I have older Sinar catalogue that lists it. Once in awhile you'll see them on ebay.

You do not want that piece, unless you are collector. "if" you really want to get in to 8x10 - find silver used p standard and 8x10 back. If you think that price is high for those pieces - think twice 8x10 is expensive.

But even after you build camera with f front and p back you''ll realise that you have no movements - your front standard will max out. So all that you can do - straight shots with no movements. Any 8x10 woody camera is good for that.

Long story short, Leigh described final design that Sinar ended up for f series. They also have special P2 standards.....
