I am in the market for a larger dark cloth for my 8x10. I've looked into the BTZS hoods but reports that they're unsuited to cold weather rules them out for me.

I came across these 3S-KRPC dark cloths (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/3S-KRPC-Dark-Cloth-140x140cm-for-8x10-LF-Cameras-FREE-SHIPPING-/200840034756?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ec2ffb9c4&_uhb=1) on eBay, the style of having a sort of hood over the front of the camera looks pretty good. It would help keep rain-snow off as well. Anyone tried these? Thoughts or opinions also welcome if you haven't.

Cool a cape for the camera. Sorry, haven't used one of these, but it sure looks cool. I wonder why they chose red rather than white...

When I had my dark cloth made up I used white on the outside , however my first choice was neutral gray thinking that I could use it in a bind for exposure or white balance.

I was thinking of getting another made more like the one above for the same reasons.

Hmm. Why don't people use nylon tent cloth? I would be tempted to buy some rip-stop 30-60 denier nylon in black.

Nope. I photograph too many places with bulls around.

In the end I went for a more conventional style of cloth. I really like the look of the hood on that one but it doesn't seem to be fastened around the camera at all. I just pictured it blowing off too easily.

I threw a KRPC dark cloth away and had a 4x6 foot one made white on the outside and black on the inside. This is my little one for 5x7 ad 8x10. I have a 5'x8' for the 7x17.
