unknown lens

I have a large lens. One side is about 3 1/8 across with the number 227 on the metal; on the other the measure is about 6 1/2 inches and the number 364. Very heavy. Came out of warehouse with a Goerz Blue Dot and Carl Zeiss. Would love to know what this lens is if possible. thank you for any help in advance.

A picture would probably help (not me, I know nothing about these things)... Also, if it's a very old lens (sounds like it) try one of the antiques collector sites.
