View Full Version : 8x10 back on a 5x7 camera
Ji
I have a NOBA Model 5 5x7 portrait studio camera with a 5x7 back and a 4x5 back.
I would like to know if it is possible to get or make an 8x10 back for this camera.
I can send photos, if you are not familiar with the Noba.
thank you,

Probably not without an extension of some kind to clip onto the rear standard to clear any gear tracks or rail

Also to avoid mechanical vignetting from the [existing] rear frame.

My answer would be yes it's possible. I worked with an 8X10 view camera we used mostly for copying flat art and needed to take 11X14 negatives for a job.
We constructed a light weight box which attached to the back of the camera and was made to accept an 11X14 back.As this was used as a copy camera it of course didn't require back swings or tilts. This rig was used successfully for many years. The camera was a Deardorf and the "box" attached using the normal tabs used for the interchangeable backs. May have to fit a longer lens to prevent any vignetting(again wasn't a problem with our copy set up).

have a look at this:

which is what you're referring to - I have no connection with this item/sale
