The site says FILM based, not 'analog'.

They use both terms ... "dedicated to analog photography" ... appears in their first paragraph.

Contributors don't get paid?

The site says FILM based, not 'analog'.

What's the difference???

From the above site:

"We are seeking film-based photographic work..."

"Submission guidelines:
What: All work must be film based in origin..."

"...for an amazing community of film photographers worldwide."

I think it's pretty obvious what their focus is. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that; it's their magazine, and I hope it does well. Other parts of their text, such as "This new independent publication, dedicated to analog photography" indicates they may, at worst, be somewhat ignorant of other analog processes being used today.

If you are talking about various "alternative" processes, they are most welcome, and we have already gotten several such submissions.

If you are talking about various "alternative" processes, they are most welcome, and we have already gotten several such submissions.

Some various "alternative" processes (platinum, palladium, kallitype, cyanotype...) are printed from film images. Some other various "alternative" processes (Daguerreotype, Ambrotype, tintype, dry plate...) are not. And of course, many alternative processes can be printed from inkjet-printed "film" negatives from digital files. Meanwhile, many photographers are shooting light-sensitive film, but scanning it and printing it digitally...

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, just pointing out the language at your site clearly indicates "film only", and at best, is open to very different interpretations. Perhaps you could enlighten us more specifically?

In any event, I sincerely wish you and the publication the best of luck. Analog photography deserves all the support it can get!

I dare to say that users of any alternative photographic process will not auto discriminate when there is a free and open submission opportunity :)
