This may already be out there already but there is an interesting article in the new View Camera about the Gelatin Emulsion Process by Mark Osterman.

Looking at his pictures showing him coating a glass plate using a teapot; he has much steadier hands than I do. :)

I was thinking the same thing. No way will I be able to do that trick. I did a lot of reading at the http://www.thelightfarm.com/ last night.

Yeah. Love that site. I have everything but the chemicals for the Chocolate Love Emulsion. I am going to mix some up during the cold months after the Holidays.

Now I am thinking about Photo Engineer's emulsion 'blade' and how to make one. Good for us clumsy folks. Got some ideas, maybe easiest produced with a 3D printer, but then I have to learn CAD. GAD CAD! Maybe I'll whittle one up...

I've looked at that too. One of these days I would like to get over to the Eastman House and take a workshop on this but for now I will have to be happy with what I can get done at home. I think I will have to keep this very simple to start with. I can mess up a good nightmare if I don't start slow.

I think that initially I want to get to the point where I can make my own film for my 8x10 and 4x5 cameras. If I can get good enough to do that relatively reliably then I am pretty sure I will want to give roll film a shot. I have got a bunch of spools and paper backing stored in a box in the rafters hoping that I get to where I can actually use them someday.
