I'd like to replace my 135 Xenar with a 135 Symmar-S, and still us the body release on the camera. The lever arm on the Copal is shorter than that on the older Compur Rapid, and the horizontal finger of the release on the lens board end of the cable doesn't fire the shutter. Has anyone found a solution to this, short of using a conventional cable instead of the body release? Thanks.

PS: It seems odd that "4X5 cameras" is not currently an available topic for categorizing questions.

Hi Kevin. Just take a short piece of stiff plastic tubing which will fit over the lever arm, and cut it long enough to trip the shutter. Incidentally, I've found that using the body release causes more camera shake than just releasing the shutter by index finger.

Thanks Bill. The finger idea is pretty good. I'm sure I have some of those somewhere. With a little practice reaching for it this should work.
