Does anyone have experience with this scanner? Epson Expression 1640XL Graphics Arts Scanner with transparency unit?

I am (still) looking for a scanner for 14x17" scans-I'm OK with doing 2 scans and stitching...

I have a used Epson 10000, the transparency is broken for reasons unknown. It's nice to be able to scan my Chinese calligraphy 9x12" in single scan. Noe sure how it compares to the 1670XL, but I have a few Epson scanners V700, 3200 and some other consumer model and they all work great. I mainly use Vuescan.

I have had a 1640xl for some time now. I don't have the transparency scanning top. It's a great scanner. I've had it for over 10 years - ne'er a prob.
